About the movie itself:-
The animation is perfect. The fact that you can't tell which scene is CG and which is not is just amazing
I loved the montage of rough sketches explaining Gendo's thought process, paying homage to the ending of the original series
The voice acting and music is impeccable, especially love Hikaru Udata's One Last Kiss and Beautiful World's new version
The plot is beautiful and acts as a satisfying conclusion to the series. I have to warn you though, you need to pay a LOT of attention while watching this as this is heavily dialogue based....but it was worth it :')

But Wait i have one complain.......Why TF did.....More like How TF did Asuka ended up with Kensuke.....I'm one of those people who weren't really against Asuka and kinda thought she looked good with shinj but this was disappointing and Shinji inturn ended up with Mari.....I mean Seriously....Not Even Rei......All that B!tching about Rei or Asuka went to nothing....Don't wanna use this line but "My Disappointment is Immeasurable and my Day is ruined" (Just cuz of pairings nothing else),shinji was always screaming Asuka,Ayanami throughout the series and there he goes with other girl and i was like "Plz someone shoot me",we didn't even got to know did he fell for her

It's not like that i don't like Mari,Infact she is way superior than Asuka in each and everything,She is more beautiful,Have bigger Oppai lol,has better attitude and is like way more likable than Asuka but I'm being honest here i wasn't that invested in Mari's character and was invested more in asuka's as we also got to see her in the orignal series too as i wanted Shinji and Asuka to end up together,She even confessed to shinji that she had a crush on him back in the past but time flew and i still think she loved shinji deep down inside but then i think again that they already did technically ended up together in the end of Evangelion so repeating it would be not interesting but then give Rei a chance then lol......Argh my mind is messed up xD but i can't stand Asuka with kensuke simple as that

Towards the end when Shinji also said that he liked asuka too at that scene Asuka was looking so beautiful + she blushed when shinji told her that and i was dead sure they are gonna end up but......T^T

Imo they Wasn't sure what they want and the world was saved so they happily moved on and Kensuke was just used as a pawn to get asuka out of the way to make Shinji and Mari end up together

It was heavily foreshadowed throughout the whole movie. When Shinji was in the village and meets a grown up Toji, he’s married to Hikari. He mentioned how love and relationships can be unexpected.

Shinji/Mari are heavily paralleled with Gendo/Yui. A much more healthier version. Gendo had a line about his life being colorless before meeting Yui. The beach scene with Shinji at the end was drawn colorless until Mari hits the water and the frame explodes in color.

Asuka suffered a 14 year time gap in which she had to come with terms that Shinji was gone during this time and move on with someone who was there for her. They’ve grown up and moved on. It's like letting go of your childhood crush or ex. I don't believe Asuka x Kensuke is a thing, but it’s very clear he is a mentor to all three original pilots, this is also represented by Kensuke patting Asuka’s head by the end of the movie in instrumentality.

In an interview with Anno: Director Anno told me that Asuka’s ending scene correlates to the idea that Ken Ken is like a father to child Asuka. Asuka really wants the father and mother that she's never had and Kenken could see this so his intention was to foster something like that. I don’t know the adult Shinji in the last scene when his voice changes (but). Asuka and Kensuke’s relationship is not a romantic one but rather a parental one. When Shinji said “I think I liked Asuka,” it means that at the time he liked Asuka, even though he never came back 14 years ago."

Indeed, asuka and kensuke's relationship isn't a romantic one at all. Kensuke would never lay a hand on a 14yo depressed girl and anno portrayed him as his father/mentor. That's why he popped up from that bear. So asuka fans shouldn't cry over her being ending up with kensuke cuz it isn't romantic but they can cry over for her not ending up with shinji lol

SPOILER ALERT , read at your own risk , rei is sadly basically his mother's clone or his sister or sisters, and asuka kinda got vaporized to get sacrifice for the impact while mari is untouched by all these stuffs , also the way the story arranged is like telling us shippers what about Mari? what about Kensuke? all of them deserves their companion in life , AND you don't have to stuck with your old crush or old relationship target , try meet other girls , again and again rei gets deleted , now this time the movie few scene hinted even asuka is clones and not the original , is time for a clean slated, no more ambiguous stuffs, a clear new different path feels more refreshing , if anything i'm more disappointed with Hermione not be with Harry in Harry Porter but this is no longer important to me, is just fictional stories at the end of the day.

Him not ending up with Asuka was already predictable, if you apply the idea of how most real girls/women would be in that kind of scenario. Remember that this whole thing takes place 14 years after the series. For Shinji it was just like yesterday, but for Asuka it was different. She went through a LOT. She grieved, felt guilt, felt alone (rejected even), but above all else, she was disappointed of how indecisive Shinji was until the very end (of the series). So after having gone through all that, she needed someone she could lean on, someone reliable. Ken-Ken filled the spot. I was actually impressed at how the production showed their respect towards the fans by just being subtle about the whole thing.

The fact that you don't get it simply shows how small your brain is. This is not an anime that you can compare with your run in the mill type of shows, because it shows how most boys are in his age. How they struggle with their self and how typically react to most challenges they face in life. He's mother died and he was abandoned by his father. It would be natural for most boys to develop an inferiority complex. He resented his father but at the same time, longed for his father's approval. That's how a lot of REAL people respond to such things. This is not a show about an OP mc beating down the forces of darkness or whatever. The fact that you constantly compare him to such references goes to show that you never understood the idea of the Human Experimentation Project. It is a story of maturity. From him being that crybaby who resented his father for abandoning him to a man learning to accept his weaknesses and forgiving his father and himself. The show depicts how regular people would react to their situation. The MC's you mentioned are literally made to be extraordinary, but Shinji isn't.
He's a teen who was thrust into a position where he has to keep up expectations that he never wanted. Plus growing up having very few people actually loving him, only to see those people die. Experiences like these have long-lasting effects on the human psyche. That's why standing up to his father and redeeming himself, then moving on was the conclusion. Everyone getting a fresh start and being happy. It's not about being super OP and talented, but about not having those and still pull through challenges and getting stronger from it.
